Summer 2006 Undergraduate Courses

First Session June 1 - July 8

The following classes have been cancelled due to low enrollment:

NSC f309.  Marine Biology of the Texas Coast - Port Aransas, Buskey.
An introduction to the biology of marine organisms found on the Texas coast and the marine habitats they live in.  This class is designed for non-science majors as a follow-up class to MNS 307.  This class will include lecture, laboratory and field work.  We will explore the beach, bay and marsh habitats of Mustang and San Jose Islands, sample marine organisms in the coastal bays on the R/V KATY and in the Gulf of Mexico aboard the R/V LONGHORN.

GOV f310L or GOV 312.  American Government - Port Aransas, Theriault.
A basic survey of American government, including fundamental political institutions, federal, state, and local; special attention to the United States and Texas Constitutions.  Part of a six-semester-hour integrated sequence, the second half of which is Government 312L.  Three lecture hours or two lecture hours and one discussion hour a week for one semester.  Fulfills first half of legislative requirement for government.  Prerequisite: Twelve semester hours of college coursework and a passing score on the reading section of the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) test (or an appropriate assessment test).


Cost and Deadlines: All courses are three credit hours; upper-division undergraduate courses are 350 series, graduate courses are 380 series; 350 series may also be taken by graduate students. In-state tuition are (estimates) $1,604/session/3 credit hours; and $2,406/session/6 credit hours; corresponding out-of-state tuition rates are $3,674 and $5,511. A scholarship program is available to defray some housing costs. Enrollment in University housing is limited, so early application is recommended. Deadline for receipt of applications is April 1, 2006. Students will be notified of a decision on their application by April 15, 2006.
