Welcome to the GSA homepage.
This site is intended to be a resource for prospective graduate students, and to
serve as an information source for those who wish to learn about graduate
student research and life here at UTMSI.
There are typically 20-25 graduate students working and studying at the Marine
Science Institute. Research interests include various aspects of animal
behavior, community ecology, population dynamics, larval ecology, mariculture,
and various chemical processes occurring in the marine environment. There is more, however, to life on
Mustang Island than just school and research. We want you to know what
life here is really like! Life on an island offers many unique
opportunities that students routinely take advantage of. In addition to working at the
Marine Science Institute graduate students spend their first year taking classes
at the main campus in Austin. Austin is a very young city with much to
offer, and the students typically value their time spent on the main campus.
